Sandy River Showdown

Trip information: Come on out to the Sandy River Showdown! On Saturday, April 28th, they host the "Dam Derby" downriver race from the confluence of the Salmon and Sandy Rivers near Brightwood to the old Marmot Dam site. Come race your kayak, whitewater canoe, cataraft or paddle raft. On Sunday, April 29th, there is a "Dodge and Burn Relay Race". River rats will race from Dodge Park downstream to Oxbow Park where you will pass the baton to your running partner. Runners will sprint through three miles of old growth forest to a huge finish line party and barbeque!
Races are on Class III sections of river. Having solid understanding of the river environment and Class 3 boat handling skills should be sufficient.
All races are in a time trial format with competitors launching in one minute intervals. No dogs allowed in Oxbow Park, even in vehicles. Leave the pooch at home.
