Trip Information: The Siletz River is an Oregon Coast Range wintertime classic run with easy roadside access providing a few different options. The run is only available on weekends as the private timber road that provides access is closed to the public during the week.
This run serves up some great whitewater with Silache a long rapid which can range from class III+ to solid class IV+ depending on flows. It can be easily seen from the road as you run your shuttle. There are more fun rapids, notably Quarry Drop where the river squeezes through a short and narrow rock gorge.
Meeting at Moonshine Park at around 9 a.m.. We will be shuttling vehicles up to Buck Creek, the launch site and scouting Silache Rapids. Remember to pack a lunch and some high energy snacks. We will be camping at Moonshine Park on Friday afternoon. Note: 5-1/2 feet on the Siletz River gauge is the minimum flow needed to run this stretch of river. Somewhere around 8 feet on the Siletz River gauge will be our top range.
