Special Feature - OWA River Safety Training

OWA River Safety Training

Submitted by Steve Adams

It was an amazing weekend for our OWA River Safety Training. Some 35+ members came out to Dodge Park to listen, learn, and practice skills taught by the skilled group of trainers with eNRG Kayaking. There also was a wide range of members present, covering several generations and boating experience. And it was sunny, dry weather for a change, actually bordering on too hot.

I first took this class some 15 years ago and it was a very interesting experience to see the skills I remember from before, and the several new skills that have been introduced over the years. It definitely emphasized the importance that “one and done” is not applicable here with river safety training. A lot of valuable, potentially life-saving skills are acquired for a very reasonable cost.

Thanks to Sam Drevo and his staff at eNRG!

Note that Sam is also our guest speaker at our May 13 meeting.
