Fall Reflection

Greetings fellow club members,

Fall Boating

Scott Harvey.jpg Seasonal changes have arrived in the Northwest and for me personally; autumn is the season that expresses the most diversity. While the season displays its colorful changes, there’s something uniquely different regarding the fall season. Maybe it’s the lowering of the suns angle that casts a different hue of light among the landscape, the crispness in the air, early morning fog, unique scents in the air, pumpkin lattes, or the arrival of winter storms that are part of the fall changes. It’s also a time to reflect back on the sunny, bright, warmer days of summer and late spring. As I’m busy cleaning and stowing away my camping and overnight boating gear, I also find myself looking back at the numerous activities of this past year, such as the day and overnight boating trips, weekend getaway camping, hiking and gatherings with friends and family. It’s all been enjoyable, except the extreme heat of late June!

Wilderness First Aid

The Wilderness First Aid Training went well at McIver State Park. Numerous enthusiastic participates showed up for a weekend of instructional First Aid training with Travis Reid of Oregon Rescue LLC. Also, the weather wasn’t too shabby either for some on hands training in late September. Plans are currently under way for the River Rescue Training for next spring 2022.

Waterway Access Permits

Waterway Access Permits from the Oregon Marine Board are now required for non-motorized boats (including rafts, kayaks, canoes and SUP Boards) over 10 feet in length when used in rivers, lakes, streams and so forth in the state of Oregon. This permit now supersedes the states older invasive species tag. The cost is $17 for one calendar year or $30 for two calendar years.

October Club Meeting will be at the covered shelter location in Mary S. Young State Park, West Linn Oregon. Meeting date will be on Oct 13, 2021, starting @ 6pm. Hope to see you all there!
